"I love to paint eyes—eyes tell everything about a person, you can see deep into their soul..."

Aubree-Anna
Artist to the Nations
Aubree-Anna is not only a gifted singer, but an accomplished painter as well, specializing in color and black and white acrylic paintings of multicultural people, with a passion for women, the elderly, and Africa. Aubree-Anna was adopted at 17 days old, and not knowing her full cultural background has allowed her to feel connected to many different cultures and it comes out through her paintings. It wasn’t until her high school years that she really began to blossom, performing in plays, choir, and entering competitions for both Music and Art, winning awards and accolades for her work.
Her interest in art started early as she scribbled her first multicolored drawing at 2 years old. Her Dad was in the military which allowed her to experience Hawaii and then Alaska, where she began drawing cars better than the boys in her 3rd grade class. She also took a few watercolor classes in 4th and 5th grade, but that was the extent of any formal training that she has had in art. Working with charcoals and pastel pencils, she soon tried her hand at acrylic in High School. One of her first acrylic paintings was a black and white African piece entitled “Sisters”. This painting and the passionate charcoal drawing entitled “The Kiss”, won her numerous awards including 1st & 2nd place in her High School TAPPS Regional Art competition. She found her medium of choice in acrylics, using both black & white, and color. She has experimented with mixed medium, using pieces of cloth, beads, and other materials to create a 3-D affect with interest, as in the painting “Caliente”, a very colorful Spanish piece. Aubree-Anna is so fun and full of life, laughter, and smiles all the time, so it is interesting to note that a lot of her paintings are quite serious.
“When I work with color, I like bold and bright, like my personality. But then black & white is cool because it forces you to become blind to color and use more imagination. And I love to paint eyes—eyes tell everything about a person, you can see deep into their soul. Therefore, I hope that when I paint eyes, people will be able to see into the painting, and what I was trying to express through it. I tend to work large scale on big canvases—not working smaller than a 16 X 20, preferably a 20 X 30 or larger. It’s funny though, ever since I started painting, that I always seem to go off the canvas—the larger the canvas, the less room I seem to have!” Aubree-Anna
If we were to pin a category for her paintings, they might fit in to the Impressionism or Contemporary style. She uses very expressive brush stokes, and experimentation that combines different styles into one, making it very unique. She calls her paintings “Expressive & Emotional”. Aubree-Anna works from pictures a lot, and likes to combine features of different people to create someone new.
